a second life extinguished?

it's starting to look like my second life is over. my controversial postings have resulted in my account being banned from the forum and being put on hold in sl. a forum ban is probably for the best, but the prok clause might be setting a really unfortunate precedent. is it time to find a new hobby?

Hey, J-Wu, sorry to hear about the bannage -- can you share more detail? What was the specific charge against you? How long will you be banned from the forums, and how long is your suspension from the SL grid?

    tony,
the charges against me are egregious trolling of second life forums and misuse of the resident answers forum. i suspect from the content of the resident answers forum, that the moderators must be slapping doing suspensions on an hourly basis.

    the guidelines define trolling as
"a post with an intentionally contrary opinion written with the intent of inciting or getting argumentative opinions." i can't fathom the point of a forum if everybody has the same opinion. but i can't say i didn't know i was walking along a precarious line.

the forum ban is permanent and my inworld account is on hold, pending a review. i don't have any inworld violations and was part of the volunteer program for a while, but forum violations put your second life account under review regardless of the inworld record.

Hmm, I've stayed out of the forums since they opened the Linden blog, I guess things have been sliding a bit more downhill there since the closure? From what I've read of your posts, I think "troll" is a major overstatement. Nothing wrong with being a provocateur in my books. Do they ban you from the blog, too?

I wonder if people will get banned next when posting contrary opinions to LL on their own blogs...

it's been over a week since my last email phone call to LL support with no response. i'm hoping that just means a review committee has not convened. we'll see what happens.

it's not like i posted hate speach, stole IP, or crashed the grid. i just posted provocative threads. i'm still keeping my fingers crossed.

Well are you still locked out or what?

I got an IM inworld from Torley telling me I was banned from access to the comments of the forums. I still am logging in, in world. I realize they could be enacting something in 24 hours tho...
